WHAT
IS OUTPATIENT DETOX? Outpatient detox (also called ambulatory detox)
is a medical procedure designed to safely detox patients from drugs and alcohol
without a hospital admission. Patients addicted to opiate prescription medications
such as Oxycontin, Vicodin, Loratab, and others, as well as those addicted to
illegal opiates such as heroin, may especially benefit from outpatient detox.
In the last several years, the FDA has approved the use of medications such as
Suboxone and Subutex (Buprenorphine) to assist in the withdrawal from opiates.
These new detox treatments have greatly advanced the ability to detox in an outpatient
setting. How do I know if outpatient detox
is for me? To determine the appropriateness of outpatient detox,
call us for an assessment. This involves talking to a counselor and nurse to gather
medical and social history. Not everyone is appropriate for outpatient detox and
some individuals may require a hospital facility. Determining factors are the
quantity of drug or alcohol that one is using, the length of time, and in what combinations.
Pre-existing medical conditions are also relevant to determine if outpatient detox
is right for each individual patient. You will receive personalized
and private outpatient medical detox treatment from
Dr. Victor Balta, MD to help your fight against common detox withdrawal symptoms.
The success of your outpatient detoxification lies with an accurate assessment
and we have over a thousand satisfied patients in the past 15 years.
Detox outpatient services doesn't mean forgotten patients or that your detox
treatment is finished. Our outpatient alcohol detox, drug detox, opiate detox and our prescription
pain medication detox program allow you to live freely without any reservations.
In our outpatient detox center, counselors are available by phone 24/7. We also
understand that you require your privacy. You may not be able to take the time
from work to detoxify with an inpatient detox program. We work with your schedule
to give you the best care possible. For example, on Day One before
your outpatient detox treatment starts, you will come into our outpatient detox
facility for a complete medical and psychological history assessment and physical
examination. To receive proper outpatient detoxification, your personal information
must be as accurate as possible. You will begin outpatient drug detox
or alcohol detox on Day One. When you make your appointment, specific directions
are given to you regarding when to stop your drug of use before coming
to our South Florida drug and alcohol detox center. For more information on our South
